Topography Navigation.

Is an example I like to associate with our timely portal.

1) You need to know where you are and where you want to go. Draw a line.

2) Then orientate the map using a compass, make sure the vertical grid lines, longitude, on the map are facing North.

3) Using a protractor with the straight edge on the bottom aligned with horizontal lines, latitude, on your map, and the center spot over your present position, measure the angle where the line intersects the outer circumference.  This is now you're bearing.

Sorry, I haven't figured out how to super impose the protractor picture over the map.

Find your bearing through the prism of your prismatic compass, then, line up a reference point through the window and reference hair line on your lid and trek out until you reach it. Repeat until you reach your destination.

When you know that you know how to do something, nothing will ever stop you.
